Lee Seung Gi appeared in a Japanese show SMAPxSMAP, which is a variety show that features a cooking segment (where members of the group SMAP cook for the guests), a skits/performances segment, and a musical performance. He appeared in a skit and was praised for his natural acting – despite it all being in Japanese.

Daesung from Big Bang was involved in a car accident! He was apparently speeding down a highway (though definitely not intoxicated) and hit a taxi that had stopped in the middle of the road. The taxi had been trying to avoid a fallen motorcyclist, and the driver had stopped to check the motorcyclist’s condition. That’s when Daesung’s car hit him. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene, but it hasn’t been confirmed whether it was due to a previous accident, an accident with the taxi driver, or an accident caused by Daesung. That conclusion will have to wait for the autopsy.
Either way, the lovable member of Big Bang is in trouble for speeding.

Another suicide. Chae Dong Ha (from the group SG Wannabe) was found dead in his home after hanging himself.
Once again, depression has been cited as the cause, and the star was even taking prescription drugs to battle it. His body has already been taken to the hospital for his funeral. An autopsy will be performed to fully investigate how and why he passed away.
*sigh. I hate to sound cynical but it feels like, “Here we go again…” with all the deaths. Why oh why don’t these actors get help?! If Korea has this taboo-like attitude towards mental diseases, then it’s about time they change it. It’s about time some brave actor stands up and says “I have depression and I’m treating it.” That way there might be less suicides.

The rehearsal reading for upcoming musical school drama You’ve Fallen for Me has begun! Park Shin Hye, Jung Yong Hwa, Song Chang Ui, So Yi Hyun, Kang Min Hyuk, and Woori participated. Hopefully everyone’s acting chops is much improved. (I’m leaving Song and So out of that last statement though, because they got acting chops.)
Lee Seung Gi’s New Hairstyle and Uhm Tae Woong

So Lee Seung Gi has a new hairstyle, which he showed off in a recent episode of 2 Days 1 Night. It’s gotten a lot of attention from fans – some of which are saying the haircut looks bad. But here I’m thinking, it doesn’t look that much different… OK, maybe the front is just a tad too short, but nothing that can’t be fixed by a little gel.
But on the other hand, I finally got to watch Uhm Tae Woong’s debut on the show tonight on TV. (Yay for finally showing it! Boo for KBS America being a month and a half behind!) Can I just say that it was funnier to watch than to read about on dramabeans? I thought I was going to burst from laughter from the commentary, but nooo – watching it is waaaay better. Plus, I get the full effect of shy, sheepish Uhm Tae Woong – who is so unlike the characters he’s played before on TV. I have seen him in The Devil (where he was badass but tortured), Queen Seon Deok (where he was a tortured but loyal soul), and Dr. Champ (where he was sarcastic to mask his tortured soul.) Damn, he’s tortured in every drama I’ve seen him in…
ANYWAYS – it was a nice surprise to see him eager, innocent, and super shy! Woo! I am amazed that he would accept to do something like this, but my Sundays are forever grateful…

News Bits: 3/7/11 Edition

I randomly tuned in to Queen of Reversals episode 23, and JUST SO HAPPENED to start at exactly the scene between Yong Shik and his secretary. And the secretary calling Yong Shik out on his attraction to Tae Hee. And then Yong Shik “slipping” information that Yoo Kyung was going on a blind date. Based on the secretary’s reaction (running out the door), he must have the hots for her!
More to come…but until then! News bits!

It’s the end of February!
And great Scott! Chris Columbus (the director of Harry Potter and Home Alone, not the explorer) announced that he will bought the rights to Cha Tae Hyun’s comedy film “Hello Ghost.” The movie just came out last year, and now it’s going to be remade for American audiences. Great. Just great. Wow. I’m sooo frickin’ happy.

It has been announced that DBSK will participate on the ATHENA OST. Interesting – I thought they broke up and had too many issues to get back together and make a song. It is said that the group will reunite in January, so I’m clearly wrong. Their song will be a fast, upbeat insert song, which I’m looking forward too since I think ATHENA has enough ballads. Like the latest one from Brown Eyed Soul – the MV for “Put It Back” is the video above.

Rain’s already planning his next project after Runaway Plan B. (Not the military?) He will star in the film ”Red Muffler” – which may change its name to “Living in the Sky” and costar with Shin Se Kyung. I think this may be the same movie announced before, but under a different title, but the plot is about a fighter pilot (Rain) who is involved in the bombing of Pyeongyang. I laugh grimly at the meta of all of this, especially with South Korea already beginning firing drills after the recent attack. Maybe this is Rain’s way of “fulfilling” his military duty too. Shin Se Kyung will star as a mechanic. (I don’t know why – but the first thing I thought of was Denise Richards playing a nuclear scientist in the James Bond movie “The World is Not Enough”. Not that Shin is a bad actress, but she is a pretty actress.)
Lee Seung Gi Concert

If you’re in Korea this weekend, please take pics for me. No, better yet, bring Lee Seung Gi to me.
Thanks.
