Aw HELLS YEAH!
Cheesy action with major bravado bragging between Cha Seung Won and Jung Woo Sung. As long as these two become excellent adversaries (instead of something like Kim Seung Woo and Lee Byung Hun where they eventually worked together and cooperated for most of the series rather than fight each other), this will be good.
Besides, Su Ae is really rocking out.

Kim Ah Joong (Accidental Couple, “200 Pounds Beauty”) will star opposite Park Shin Yang in the medical drama Heaven. She will play the clumsy Go Da Kyung, a newbie who conducts autopsies. So she’s a bumbling cop/doctor? Meant to be adorable, and also probably going to win the heart of the cold-hearted Park.
It is the end of the month! Bye bye August, bye bye summer!
And to end the summer – Lee Byung Hoon‘s entertainment company just announced that he will NOT be starring in IRIS 2. That doesn’t mean ATHENA, by the way, in case anyone’s confused. (Who’s confused? I’m not confused!)
So not only is he not appearing in the spin-off, but he’s not appearing in the sequel (which is slated to air in 2011). Can we then assume that his character [SPOILER] is dead [END SPOILER]? If so, oh mighty gods I rejoice!!!!!! Call me mean, but seriously – I’d be glad if that were the case.
Lots of news over this past weekend!
First of all – I Am Legend just may get a musical version! While it’s still unconfirmed on whether it will happen or not, the musical version would work sort of like “Mamma Mia,” where the music will form the basis for the story. It’s possible that they will take the drama’s story and shorten it (I would prefer that), or to take the songs and the characters, but change the story.
OK, ATHENA is starting to sound more and more like a show where the producers are going, “So, how many more stars can we fit into this vehicle?” With it’s big-name cast and plenty of foreign locales, now they need another target for kidnapping just because… well, just because.
First the good guys have to protect the president’s daughter. Now it looks like Jung Woo Sung will be BoA‘s bodyguard to make sure she doesn’t get kidnapped before her concert because, you know, she’s a big-name female singer. The baddies in ATHENA would totally love to get their hands on her, if only to make her teach them how to dance to “Hurricane Venus.”
This may just be a rumor… or not…
The cast of ATHENA just keeps on growing. Lee Bo Young (The Birth of the Rich, Harvest Villa) has been added as the president’s daughter. She is an unassuming graduate student who gets kidnapped while attending a school in Italy. Her kidnapping sets off a series of motions that get our heroes (Jung Woo Sung, et al at NIS) moving. Perhaps she’s kidnapped by the infamous ATHENA, headed by Cha Seung Won? All I hope is that Choi Si Won develops an unhealthy and adorkable crush on her. Hee!
(By the way – the photo comes from a past photo shoot – but the dark edgy theme to it certainly sets her off on the right foot for the series, don’t you think?
And below here is a first look at the promo posters for ATHENA! (They’ve already begun shooting.)
South Korea has advanced to the Round of 16! Woot Woot!
And with that, Shoo gave birth to her baby boy! She gave birth a few days early, but all is well for the mother and the baby. She went into labor the same day South Korea had its match with Nigeria, and drew a tie that ensured entry into the Round of 16. Congratulations!
She is not the only celebrity to be celebrating the win though. Chun Jung Myung was cheering for the Korean team and had predicted Park Chu Young would make a goal in the game (which he did). Jang Geun Suk celebrated the win while in a hotel in Seoul and stated that he was proud to be a Korean after that win. It’s quite a big victory for Korea, since they’ve never made it past the Groups stages before, with the exception of 2002 when Seoul hosted the World Cup.

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho has released their first posters! They’ve already commenced their filming, and updates can be seen through Lee Seung Gi‘s Twitter account (twitter.com/chadaewoong). The account username belongs to Lee’s character in the drama. The posters are amazing. The first one shows them being quite slick – and I love the whole 1930s-feel to their costumes. But the second photo shows them in more of their every day interaction, and if Lee really snagged a girl who looked like Shin Min Ah, I’d be congratulating him too – even if she were a gumiho!
Anyways – I’m super glad it’s Shin Min Ah – she’s so much more suited for the role.

Kim Ji Hoon! He debuted in the play “University of Laughs” recently, and stars as a writer whose personality differs greatly from his previous role in Wish Upon a Star. His character is supposedly quite cowardly as he tries to get his script through the censors. In an interview, he noted that in a play he doesn’t have to worry so much about facial expressions since there are no close-ups, but he does have to make sure that his body doesn’t stand up too straight or else he exudes too much confidence. One downside about plays is that he has to memorize every line (there are no re-dos, and the entire script is ready before hand, unlike dramas were scripts come out in pages every week). But he also promised to give a different performance to audiences every night, because he’ll continually make the role more personal.
But he’s just too cute! (When he looks happy.)
