News Bits: 8/5/11 Edition

Goodness – accidents just really don’t stop do they? This time, it’s Hong Soo Hyun from The Princess’ Man. The actress – who plays the spoiled princess Kyung Hye – got into a car accident at around 4 in the morning. Her car had hit another car off the highway and was totaled. She suffered a rib fracture, while her manager suffered a serious injury to his arm. Though Hong wanted to go back on set to shoot, she couldn’t as she had to go back to the hospital and get proper treatment.

*Sigh….

It just so happens that The Princess’ Man also finally ranked number one in ratings for Wednesday-Thursdays. They got 14.9% viewers, while new series Protect the Boss got 12-14% viewers. Unfortunately, Heartstrings stayed in the 5% range.

News Bits: 6/28/11 Edition

Well well now. When one couple ends, another blossoms! Goo Hara (from girl group KARA and currently in City Hunter) and BEAST’s Yong Joon Hyung are officially dating. (The guys have similar names too…) Photos of the two revealed them holding hands, and so their agencies released a statement confirming their coupledom. Congratulations to the two! It’ll be young puppy love. I don’t think it’ll last, but it’s nice to see these overworked pop idols take some time to be “normal” and date.

Check out Han Hyo Joo’s new hairstyle!

It’s not for real – it’s for her upcoming film “Only You” alongside So Ji Sub (sporting a similarly messy mop). It’s said that his hairdo was reminiscent of his days in the drama I’m Sorry I Love You.

They attracted quite a lot of attention for their hairdo, no doubt because it looks quite…atrocious.

Spy seduces spy – and gets rejected for a fridge!

That’s the plot of the new CF for LG Dios smart refrigerator, starring new spokespeople Jung Woo Sung and Kim Tae Hee. OK, maybe not really – but Jung is trying to seduce Kim, and she’s rejecting him ’cause he’s taken she likes the fridge better. CF below!

Athena: A Review

Oh Athena.

I wanted the last recap to be up and ready before I posted this, hence the lateness of this review. My rating is already up though (6/10), and I will explain why I gave it such a high/low rating, however way you want to look at it.

Why I Like ATHENA More Than IRIS…

So far.

I definitely do enjoy Athena better than Iris, but I am starting to understand the appeal of Iris. I think it helps that as I’m watching Athena, my mom is watching Iris, and therefore I’m kinda reliving the series through her.

But I still stand by my original dislike opinion for the predecessor (save for Kim! So! Yeon!). My thoughts on Athena might change within the last five episodes or so, and those last five episodes may make me start hating on it or absolutely loving it.

Until then, the opinions I form are based on the 15 episodes of Athena that I have seen so far. That also means, spoilers are bound to pop up.

My Princess – Episode 1 Review

I am officially torn. Like many, I was pleasantly surprised by My Princess, despite my aversion to the top billing actors. A few mind-boggling plot lines and holes got in the way, and I have to strain myself to jump over them, but otherwise, I’m stuck with a dilemma:

News Bits: 12/27/10 Edition

Can you guess who the pretty lady is?

It’s none other than Kim Gab Soo – the elder actor extraordinaire who appeared in so many dramas this year. He changed his appearance for the sitcom All My Love where he plays the father Director Kim. The drama takes on a twist in the Kongji-Patji folk tale.

He looks quite fine for drag. Reminds me of Bae Jong Ok in some respects (and he even costarred with her in The World They Live In as the director who held a long torch for her).

News Bits: 11/30/10 Edition

End of November. 31 more days and it’s the end of 2010. It’s so scary fast…

To add to this nostalgic feeling that I’m having, let us all say goodbye to Jung Kyung Ho – who has left for the army. This charmer started our year (or more like latter end of 2009) with Smile You and brought so much laughter and tears to our lives that now he ends the year with a salute and a “See you again.” He also enters the army during a time of turmoil between the North and South Koreas. News Bits: 9/15/10 Edition

Kim Ah Joong (Accidental Couple, “200 Pounds Beauty”) will star opposite Park Shin Yang in the medical drama Heaven. She will play the clumsy Go Da Kyung, a newbie who conducts autopsies. So she’s a bumbling cop/doctor? Meant to be adorable, and also probably going to win the heart of the cold-hearted Park.
