News Bits: 9/20-9/21/11 Edition

I’m sorely behind on news updates aren’t I? They come in bits and pieces… every three-four days or so…kekeke…Why the two dates? Because in my world, it’s already the 21st, but I SWEAR I was writing this on the 20th.

Anyways – it’s a complete TRAVESTY to see Yoona of SNSD be cast opposite Jang Geun Suk in the drama Love in the Rain, headed by the Four Seasons-director Yoon Suk Ho. She was chosen because she could portray “innocence and purity” required of the dual characters she’s playing (the mother in the 1970′s and the daughter in present time; Jang is doing the same thing with his character). Why do I hate the casting choice so much?

Because 1) I saw her in 9 End 2 Outs and she was irritating. She’s perfect at being annoying; and 2) I don’t see her appeal. I get that she kinda matches with Jang Geun Suk in terms of youth and looks, but she’s not amazing. I don’t see why people think she’s cute; I think her face is too expressionless save for a placid smile; she’s not even interesting in SNSD music videos; and I don’t think she’s someone who should headline a big drama like this.

I refuse to watch this drama, unless someone puts a head restraint on me to lock my eyes on the screen and watch her act. Call me violently biased, but hey, I can have my opinion on an actress right?

News Bits: 8/29/11 Edition

One more romance for the rumor mill: Lee Byung Hoon and Kim Min Hee (Love Marriage). Both their agencies denied any romance between the two. These rumors came up due to a very sizzling photo shoot for a children’s charity in Vogue magazine. The spread’s concept was “Love Actually.”

Really? Aren’t they actors that pretend they’re in love anyways?

Eric and Han Ye Seul Make Peace

Han Ye Seul returned on set a mere 48 hours after she had left it and flew to the States. It goes without saying that the set must have been an awkward place to be. Her scenes with Eric Mun were initially awkward, and it didn’t help that Eric was wearing sunglasses so Han could not read any of his expressions.

News Bits: 8/16/11 Edition

Why hello Han Ye Seul! Hope L.A. weather is working for ya!

Funny ’cause… her mom arrived in Seoul. I just want to say – her case has been shockingly addicting for the Korean entertainment world, and as far as I know, unprecedented. I want to stop reporting about her, but I can’t. It’s like crack. I just want to know what happens next!

Although, it looks like they’re just going to kill her off.

Han Ye Seul to Be Replaced on Spy Myung Wol

What. The. Eff.

Again – I repeat that I don’t really like this drama. However, episode 10 ended on a promising note. So I’m kind of hoping for more closure on the Myung Wol – Kang Woo storyline here. I’d really like to see Han Ye Seul and Eric Mun go on their real dates and stuff, yunno? So even though I don’t like this drama, I’m damn disappointed by this outcome.

More Trouble for Spy Myung Wol?

Spy Myung Wol isn’t the greatest drama in my book. After a few more episodes, I’ve officially tuned out. I check in every so often (skipping episodes) and definitely saw the last few minutes of episode 10′s cliffhanger. However, Han Ye Seul isn’t a gripping lead, and though the premise is zany, I feel like it’s trying too hard to be normal. If you’re going to go zany, go all the way. Might as well have fun with it. I feel like the Dramabeans recaps make it far more amusing than it really is (for me), so I’d rather just read the recaps than watch the episodes.

But now the drama has been given a short extension (two extra episodes – eep!). It’s also on a live-shooting schedule, so imagine the trouble when its lead actress decides to not show up on set.

A Spate of Car Accidents Plague Actors

Really, almost every other day, someone’s had a car accident. I’m sure the current weather in Korea isn’t helping, as it is the rainy season, and even if you drive carefully, you can still end up skidding. But still…can we get no-skid tires and alert drivers for these people!?

Yoo Seung Ho is the latest actor to get in a car accident.

Spy Myung Wol: First Impressions

This particular first impressions post will cover the first four episodes of Spy Myung Wol. Sometimes I do only 1 episode, sometimes I do it after 4, and it’s really just based on how I saw the drama. The Princess’ Man wasn’t compelling enough for me to launch into Episode 2 right away, whereas for Spy Myung Wol, I actually saw episodes 3 and 4 before I saw 1 and 2.

I think watching it out of order did not help me appreciate this drama any more. However, now that I’ve seen all the episodes, things are making sense now.

Spy Myung Wol Press Conference

Spy Myung Wol held their press conference today in anticipation of their premiere next week. The cast were asked a gamut of questions, most notably Han Ye Seul about her car accident, Eric Mun about Poseidon, and Lee Jin Wook about his breakup with Choi Ji Woo.
