Poseidon Press Conference

The cast of Poseidon is here! And so are the posters. Poseidon follows a Coast Guard investigative unit as they solve maritime crimes. Hm – like NCIS?!

I definitely don’t like the posters. It looks like it’s ripping off of Athena too much, and the poster of the officers all lined up reminds me so much of Hong Kong dramas from my youth. I don’t know why, but it doesn’t make me that much more keen on watching the drama.

Then again, if it ends up being like NCIS…………….. It seems Lee Sung Jae’s character joins the investigative unit in an attempt to locate his wife’s killer too.

Pictures below! Lee Si Young brightens up the mostly male cast, fielding off comparisons to Ha Ji Won, and she’s the only one in a nude-and-black outfit. Everyone chose boring, somber colors for the press conference.

Seoul Adventures: Day 1

My life is complete because I saw Jang Geun Suk. Who cares about Kim Hyun Joong, Song Joong Ki, Yoona, and JYJ when you got THIS GUY?!

I also saw a Park Shi Hoo commercial on the subway TVs. I died. He even had to change his shirt onscreen. I propose that he have a shirtless scene in The Princess’ Man - one that is completely unnecessary but totally necessary for me.

This time difference thing is throwing me off too. I’m technically on Day 2, but home is on Day 1. Anyways…

Several observations – Seoul is intensely hot and muggy. Underground malls are cooler than some market places. Insadong is really nice, Myeongdong is hip, Namdaemun Road is fancy, and Namdaemun Market is overrated.

Also – getting lost is awesome. Getting lost and then having your feet die by the end of the day isn’t.

News Bits: 7/25/11 Edition

Oh the most hilarious photoshop ever!

Park Shi Yeon, Nam Gyu Ri, and Park Jin Hee all participated in a photo shoot for Marie Claire Korea, dressed in bathrobes in a hotel tub. Thing is, if you look carefully, Park Shi Yeon’s legs are gone!! It doesn’t even look plausible that Park is standing behind the tub, as it looks to be quite connected to the wall. (Then again, it could be just the angle and she could be standing behind it!)

Either way – funny photoshop indeed!

News Bits: 5/25/11 Edition

City Hunter is premiering today!! Are you tuning in? I’m not. HAHA. Well – after the salacious-standard-shower-scene (ooh! alliteration!), we shall see.

The photos even show off the wounds Lee Min Ho supposedly sustained during his training. I don’t think they’re real, although if they are, I’m impressed. It shows dedication, and a complete disregard of having the “perfect body” as an actor. I like my actors flawed in some way – makes them more human, yunno? But then again – movie make-up is a standard, and in Korea it’s probably easy to get plastic surgery fix up those scars…

I’m also sure that these photos were released to help amp up interest in the drama. It’s going to be battling a lot of other heavy hittersBest Love, which will most likely shoot up to #1 in ratings with the exit of 49 Days, and Romance Town, which has single digit ratings but has generated a lot of interest thanks to Sung Yuri‘s acting. So the question is, who do people want to see more? Sung Yuri, or Park Min Young? For me, it’s Sung Yuri. Not only am I already invested in the drama, but because I don’t like Park Min Young too much. She’s OK (from Sungkyunkwan Scandal), so I’m kind of “meh” towards her. As for Sung Yuri, I had not seen her in a drama before, so for me she’s like “fresh blood” to my eyes. I’m more willing to give her a chance.

Behind The Scenes of ATHENA Episode 19

OK – spoilerific photo spamazz. I know what happens in episode 19 (thanks to these photos) DESPITE not having seen it yet – and I warn you all – if you dare put up any spoilery comments about what happens or what else happens from episode 18 on, I will hunt you down, and shoot you dead with a sniper gun before you can even say “Yoon Hye In!”

Nevertheless, I don’t dare deprive the world of such fun behind-the-scenes photos. After all – Lee Ji Ah is a very, very lucky girl. (She gets hugged not by one hottie – but two!)

ATHENA Press Conference

Can I just say how beeyouuutiful this cast is? Oh I’m not biased at all!

The cast of ATHENA held their press conference today/yesterday-Korea-time, and the drama will premiere on December 12. Lee Jia stated that she did not use her stunt double as much as possible, wanting to “immerse herself” into the role and also experience shooting in a foreign country. (She’s cooler than Park Chae Rin in Secret Garden).

Choi Si Won said his bit – stating that he’s not worried about comparisons to T.O.P. for his work in IRIS. I doubt there’s much to compare, save for the fact that both are singer/rapper-turned-actors. After all, Si Won’s role is completely different to that of T.O.P.’s and they both have different acting strengths. If they play up the comedy for Si Won’s character, I will highly approve.

But on to the photos! AND the new trailer below!

ATHENA Preview

Aw HELLS YEAH!

Cheesy action with major bravado bragging between Cha Seung Won and Jung Woo Sung. As long as these two become excellent adversaries (instead of something like Kim Seung Woo and Lee Byung Hun where they eventually worked together and cooperated for most of the series rather than fight each other), this will be good.

Besides, Su Ae is really rocking out.

News Bits: 10/30/10 Edition

It’s nearly the end of October! I feel like just a few posts ago I was like, “It’s the start of October!” Weird…

Anyways – I think this news bits edition will focus on singers-turned-idol-actors. To start, Eric Mun of ShinHwa is now out of the army! He is one of the ones who entered late in age, since an accident in 2006 led him to enter the army in 2008. He will begin filming the new drama Poseidon. Say hi!

News Bits: 9/28/10 Edition

Well, well – Se7en is sure making us notice him with this particular song – “I’m Going Crazy.” The music video stars him and his real life girlfriend Park Han Byul (Oh My Lady), and it provides a glimpse into what a relationship with a star is like. Park’s role is made to sound quite annoying because she always seems to be on his case, and the overlapping dialogue lines don’t help. However, it’s not entirely her fault for driving him away, since he doesn’t wish to acknowledge her publicly and never has time for her. There is an element of physical violence, although done in rewind, that reminds me of “Love the Way You Lie” by Eminem and Rhianna – except the latter song is much, much, much more violent.

Anyways – nice MV.

Choi Si Won and ATHENA Update

Is there another idol star who’s going to be very successful as an actor too?

We all know that Choi Si Won’s got some acting chops (hell, he did pretty well in Oh My Lady even if the role was a bit meta). But now, ATHENA costar Kim Min Jong has praised the young man’s acting skills, saying:

“He’s doing so well that he’s an actor whose future I look forward to more than his present…He reminds me of my own past, when I see him doing well at sports and music, as well as having a good determination for acting.”

Now that’s one heck of a compliment – and not too dissimilar from what Kim Seung Woo said about T.O.P in regards to his acting in “Into the Fire.” Even though they costarred together in IRIS, they didn’t have scenes together. ATHENA is pretty high profile enough, and it’s said to be a hit as well.

It is very possible that it will be more popular than IRIS, because of its storyline and more complicated relationships. Here’s a more detailed account of the show:
