New Home For Blog

Featured

Hi All!

So I’ve been working on some upgrades to the site. Maybe for the better? Maybe for the worst? Point is, kaedejun.wordpress.com will cease to exist.

This is not an April Fool’s Joke.

The new site is at http://www.kaedejun.com/. Please do give me some feedback on the site. While most of the posts have been updated and added there, I’m probably going to make more tweaks in the coming days (or weeks. or months.).

So. Yeah. Bye bye old home! I’m growing up now! *sniff sniff*

Birdie Buddy: Episode 15

Featured

I loved this episode for all the exposition. It’s about time we all learned more about what’s really going on. Even though we got hints as to everyone’s hidden motives and their pasts, it’s kind of refreshing to get it all out in the open. That moment of revelation is very satisfying for me.

Plus – 9 more episodes and we’re at the end!

Han Chae Young’s Fall Bazaar Photo Shoot

Featured

Han Chae Young isn’t Korea’s “Barbie Doll” for nothing. She models for a European luxury brand Derercuny and the photo shoot was themed after an Italian film, and showed off her intense eye makeup.

Damn, I actually wish I could pull off sexy smoky eyes like that. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Her legs are unreal.

Birdie Buddy: Episode 14

Featured

Not an exciting episode, but again the focus was on Hae Ryung. Though Lee Da Hee isn’t a bad actress, I think her storyline has just gotten to a point where I just don’t care. It’s always her fighting with her mother, and she keeps holding a grudge against Jung Woo. Most of the other characters have moved on, but I feel like she’s still revolving on the same plane.

Nevertheless, her actions are simply setting her up to be Mi Soo’s great rival.

Birdie Buddy: Episode 13

Featured

Advantages of this drama: the 45-minute episodes help make the drama feel fast paced; the length of the drama (24 episodes) allow for a slower but better character development. Case in point: I hate Jung Woo’s actions and conflicting feelings, but I can understand them better because nothing’s rushed.

Disadvantages of this drama: too much of Sae Hwa being stubborn; the plots keep recycling in some way – competition, setback, withdrawal, resurgence. And the mother just keeps cycling between controlling and frustrated.

Park Shi Yeon is Getting Married!

Featured

Looks like the Coffee House actress is getting married!

The date seems to be set for November 19, and while it’s been rumored, I have seen four separate articles about it, so I’m kind of thinking it’s true. Park Shi Yeon is set to marry her boyfriend of four years, who works in stocks and securities. (One article says they’ve been together since March, so it’s likely that they’ve known each other for a while, and only became serious recently.) The location will be at the Seoul Hyatt Hotel. Of course – if this ends up being complete gossip, my only response is: “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire…”

Congratulations to the actress! I’m happy to see that she’s found happiness!

Cha Seung Won Models for Fila

Featured

Cha Seung Won pops his best “Blue Steel” look as he models for the 2011 Fall/Winter Fila Collection. The line that he wears is described as a “comfortable yet stylish” look, mixing outdoorsy outfits with normal every day wear. The female model next to him? Meh – who cares? It’s Cha Seung Won!

Although with this photo shoot, all I can pay attention to is how old he looks. He may look “intense” but all I can see is “exhaustion.”

Birdie Buddy: Episode 12

Featured

Fabian’s training episodes are pretty cool when you see it, but not that interesting in concept. In general – he’s just training her for when she runs into trouble – her ball falls in the water, or falls into the woods. Mi Soo already can do well in the open green, so he just does “targeted training” so to speak. It makes for interesting sequences because they’re so tough, and you want to see Mi Soo succeed.

However, it also means that Mi Soo will succeed, and therefore the training sequences are so limited. I want more Fabian!!!!

Also, it’s interesting to note that Danny is starting to stand up to Sae Hwa now. He’s finally unable to tolerate how Sae Hwa just glosses over all her problems.

Birdie Buddy: Episode 11

Featured

**Sorry these recaps are coming up late! Episode 12 coming soon!**

I LOVE Fabian. He might be a masochistic old man with a rough (but clear) Korean speaking manner, but he’s what makes it hilarious. His expressions are so hammy that they’re kinda awesome. But Jung Woo? I hate him. I don’t get him. I am annoyed at him. And yet, he’s kind of an interesting character… more on that later.

As for Hae Ryung, she became downright whiny in these two episodes. I’m kind of glad that they pushed her out of the picture (artificially) by episode 12 because she is one messed up kid.

Tree With Deep Roots Press Conference

Have I mentioned that I’m excited for this drama? No? OK, let me officially state that I’m excited for this drama. Murder? check. Mystery? check. Historical? Ehhhhhh – half-check. Han Suk Gyu? Double check.

The cast – Han, Shin Se Kyung, and Jang Hyuk were present at the press conference held on the 29th at the Imperial Palace Hotel in Seoul. Jang Hyuk admitted that he was going to turn down this drama at first because he thought his character was boring. He thought that there were other more interesting characters in the original novel this drama is based on. However, when he read the synopsis and script, he realized that his character was richer and more dramatized, and works as a narrator for the storyline.

Cha Tae Hyun is a father again! His baby daughter was born on September 29th, four years after his son was born in 2007. Congratulations!

He will start filming a new movie – “Gone With the Wind” – next month. Looks to be a historical comedy as the movie synopsis describes it as thieves stealing ice from an ice house.
